About the studio

A small space for real practice.

Ship Street Yoga is a twelve-mat studio tucked into Brighton's seafront. We keep it small on purpose—so you're never crowded, and you always feel welcomed.

We teach Hatha and Yin because both matter: one builds, the other releases. Beginners start here. People with years of practice come back. We focus on breath, ease, and what your body actually needs—not what Instagram says it should do.

Whether you're new to yoga or looking for a quieter place to practice, you'll find that here.

Questions

New to yoga?

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need to be flexible to start?

No. Yoga isn't about touching your toes—it's about what happens when you try. We'll meet you where you are and show you how to build strength and ease at your own pace.

What's the difference between Hatha and Yin?

Hatha is active: you build heat, strength, and awareness through movement and breath. Yin is slow and deep: you hold poses longer and let gravity do the work. Both are valuable. Most people benefit from both.

How many people are in a class?

Max 12 mats. That's intentional. You get space around you, and the teacher can give real attention to everyone in the room.

What do I bring?

Just yourself. We have mats, props, and blankets. Wear something comfortable. Bring water if you like. Arrive 5 minutes early so you can settle in.
